Record breaking sales for AirAsia Mobile, developed by MTT

Hundreds of thousands of Malaysian ringgit booking revenue delivered in a single day.
The world’s best low cost airline, AirAsia, has achieved record breaking sales from its new mobile service developed in conjunction with MTT. Driven by AirAsia’s ‘March Madness’ promotion bookable via mobile and online channels, the mobile site delivered hundreds of thousands of Malaysian ringgit booking revenue in a single day during the campaign, believed to be a record for a low cost carrier (LCC) via the mobile channel.
In addition to booking, AirAsia Mobile also allows guests to receive booking confirmations and even choose their airline seat in advance. The service is accessible in English or Chinese and renders optimally on all mobile devices, including an iPhone Web App version of the site to provide a true iPhone experience.
Lau Kin Choy, Regional Head of Innovation, Commercial & Technology, AirAsia, said: “At AirAsia, we are in the habit of breaking records and the success of our new Mobile Service is yet another example. Consumers are increasingly expecting to access airline services on their mobile phones and we will continue to develop and innovate these services to surprise and delight.”
The mobile services implemented for AirAsia are powered by MTT’s intelligent mobile airline platform, m2plane.
Lau added: “MTT’s m2plane specialist mobile airline platform delivers a solution which renders optimally on all mobile devices and has the flexibility to add additional services as our plans for mobile develop over time”.
